Tally ERP-9 The reckoning of a debt or score; a total score or amount (Oxford English Reference Dictionary) Tally marks, a unary numeral system. They are a form of numeral used for counting. They are most useful in counting or tallying ongoing results, such as the score in a game or sport, as no intermediate results need to be erased or discarded
Tally Solutions, then known as Peutronics,
was co-founded in 1986 by Shyam Sunder Goenka and his son Bharat Goenka.
Shyam Sundar Goenka was running a company that supplied raw materials and machine parts to plants and textile mills in southern and eastern India. Unable to find software that could manage his books of accounts, he asked his son, Bharat Goenka, 23, a Maths graduate
to create a software application that would handle financial accounts for his business.
The first version of the accounting software was launched as an MS-DOS application. It had only basic accounting functions, and was named Peutronics Financial Accountant.

Founders and Investors: Jason Brown and Jasper Platz, who previously founded Gen110, Inc., a solar energy company funded by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers,
started Tally in 2015.
Brown and Platz realized that since credit card annual percentage rates (APRs) are typically 15 to 20 percent
and late fees are common,
there was an opportunity to make credit cards "less expensive and easier to manage".
In June 2015, Tally closed a $2 million Seed funding round led by Aileen Lee at Cowboy Ventures
with participation from Accelerate IT Ventures (AITV) and Sherpalo Ventures.
In May 2016, the company secured a $15 million Series A round led by Sean Flynn at Shasta Ventures,
with participation from existing investors as well as
Tally.ERP
